The Staff
Krysta Buchanan
Krysta attended Radford University for interior design. While at Radford she got involved with Cru her freshman year and it quickly became an important part of her life. After graduation Krysta interned with Cru then went on to join staff and was placed back at Radford University.
For the last three years Krysta has served as the Team Leader for the Cru ministry at Radford. She and her husband, Neal, call this place home after years of living in the city of Radford. They are part of Valley Bible Church, where Neal serves as the Worship and Media Director and they love working with college students.
Krysta loves coffee shops, baking bread and watching YouTube tutorials on makeup or crocheting. She often has a new book to recommend and loves going to plant shops with Neal on the weekends.
Grace Currey
Grace just graduated from Radford University in May 2020 with a degree in communication sciences and disorders. During the first week of her freshman year she attended a Cru meeting on campus and quickly knew she had a passion for campus ministry. Grace had been a Christian her whole life, but Cru helped her claim a relationship with God as her own.
Grace is excited to be entering her second year as an intern with Cru at Radford. She served as a student leader during her time in undergrad and will continue to lead small groups and point other college students to Jesus.
She has, what she would describe, as the southern grandma gene - she cooks and bakes for friends, crochets and knits, and can fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. Grace wants you to know that there are cool homeschoolers out there and she is one of them.
David & Kaitlyn Phipps
David and Kaitlyn both attended Radford as English majors and quickly found a home in Radford Cru. Because of Cru, they both came to know Jesus on a deeper level and that alone changed the trajectory of their lives. They got married shortly after graduating and are now raising their two children, Oliver and Amelia, in the New River Valley.
In addition to working for Cru, David teaches some interdisciplinary studies and english courses on campus as an adjunct instructor. David and Kaitlyn also run a wedding photography business together where they get to travel all over Virginia capturing couples as a team.
Both David and Kaitlyn share an avid Hamilton addiction and will gladly discuss Lin Manuel Miranda’s work with anyone they come across. In their free time, they love making memories with their little kiddos and cherish how much time they get to spend at home together.
Haleigh Williams
Haleigh graduated from Radford University in May 2021 with a degree in communication studies. During her first two years at Radford, a relentless friend invited her to go to Cru every week, but she didn’t start attending until her junior year of college. She quickly made friends because she wore a Jonas Brothers t-shirt to the first Cru Thursday and all of the fellow JB fans flocked to her. She didn’t know it at the time, but Cru would provide a Godly community and forever friends. Haleigh had been a Christian since middle school, but God recaptured her heart that year and taught her how to have a more personal relationship with Him.
She served as a student leader during her senior year of college and felt God calling her to intern with Cru instead of attending graduate school. She is excited to continue leading small groups and telling college students about Jesus.
Haleigh is a woman of few words when you first meet her, but once you’re her friend she’s an open and fun book. She loves the great indoors, dogs, a plethora of television shows, Disney, and romantic comedies. Ask her about any of these things and she’ll talk to you for hours about it!
